Inappropriate questions
There are some questions that are always inappropriate to ask when assessing candidate suitability. For example, questions about:
â— Personal life, sexual orientation, gender or relationship status;
â— Plans for pregnancy or family;
â— Where people “are really from”;
â— A person’s health or impairment beyond discussing any adjustments or support they need;
â— Any other questions that you wouldn’t reasonably expect in a formal interview for a job or volunteering role.
At the end of the interview, you should tell potential candidates the timetable for making your decision and how you will contact them regarding whether they have been successful.
